State financial aid programs
Alaska offers a variety of financial aid programs such as grants, scholarships, and other awards for students who want to further their education beyond high school:
To qualify for federal and other sources of financial aid, you must file the FAFSA. To ensure priority consideration for Alaska state scholarships and grants, your FAFSA must be submitted online or postmarked by April 15.

Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS) is an interactive education and career planning system that provides information and career exploration tools specifically for Alaskans.
Benefits for veterans
- Alaska Office of Veterans Affairs: Free tuition for spouse or dependent of armed services member: The spouse or dependent of an armed services member who died in the line of duty or who died as a result of injuries sustained while in the line of duty or who was listed by the Department of Defense as a Prisoner of War or as Missing in Action is entitled to a waiver of undergraduate tuition and fees. Students must be in good standing in a state supported educational institution in Alaska.
- The Alaska Troops To Teachers (TTT) program assists qualified military personnel make the transition from the armed services to service in the classrooms of our schools.
